R&D/QA Intern – Orange County Facility

Location: Irvine, CA

Overview of Position:
Classic Foods, Inc. is a family-owned manufacturer of all-natural snack foods. Our branded products include Kettle Classics® Potato Chips, Stoned Classics® Tortilla Chips, Baked Classics® Potato Crisps, and California Classics® school snacks. We also produce a variety of products for private label and foodservice.

As R&D/QA Intern, you will work with the Quality Assurance and Innovation departments to ensure the production of safe, high quality, snack products. The successful candidate will be involved in performing daily QC checks, as well as working on the development of new snack products using a variety of technology. This position provides an opportunity to learn about the snack food industry and develop valuable contacts and job skills. This position has the potential to lead to full-time employment.

Detailed Description:

• Plan and conduct product sampling events according to company standards
• Plan and conduct product sampling events according to company standards
• Work with suppliers to source ingredients
• Maintain QA documentation related to new supplier approval and ingredients receiving
• Work with Manufacturing to orchestrate R&D plant runs
• Develop formulations, product specifications, and production SOPs for new prototypes; prepare prototypes for handoff to manufacturing
• Re-formulate existing products to realize cost-savings
• Prepare samples for Sales Department
• Conduct plant visits to evaluate production, identify problems, and communicate findings to management
• Assist with enforcement of QA policies and procedures
• Work with Sales and Marketing staff to provide technical education and customer support
