FEEDING THE NEEDS OF OTHERS

AT CLASSIC FOODS, WE CARE DEEPLY ABOUT HELPING OTHERS. Doing good deeds for our community is a way of life. Our employees volunteer for many organizations on a regular basis. And we consider ourselves fortunate to be able to contribute to so many worthwhile charities. Below are some of the events that we have participated in.

 Chapman University

Chapman University - Classic Foods sponsored Chapman University’s Food Science Student Association's 28th Annual Area Meeting and College Bowl Competition with Kettle Classics Potato Chips. The event took place Saturday March 9, 2013. Schools competed toward a regional title in a double elimination, food science quiz competition. The winner will compete in the national competition at the IFT Annual Meeting and Expo in Chicago in June 2013.

 iTryATHLON

iTRYathlon is an annual event that allows hundreds of women and children to explore new ways of staying in shape and attempting their first triathlon or 5k run/walk. These participants will have an opportunity to raise money for Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) while enjoy training with their friends and family-- This event was created to help promote schools and the importance of exercise. Classic Foods is a participant in supporting iTRYathlon for the health and education of our future generations.

Providence Speech and Hearing Center Supporting the speech and hearing impaired community of Orange County, Classic Foods partners with Providence Speech and Hearing Center at their Annual Golf Classic, held at Tustin Ranch Golf Club. We wish the golfers long drives and easy putts!

Pretend City Children’s Museum is the first educational facility of its kind in the western United States. It represents a small, interconnected city designed to “build better brains” through purposeful play, hands-on learning experiences, role-playing, and educational programming. Pretend City Children’s Museum is the perfect place to nurture young minds and cultivate family bonds!

 United Airlines

United Airlines and Kettle Classics® "Eat for Good" Snack Box.

We are pleased to announce that Kettle Classics® potato chips will be included in United Airlines’ first "Eat for Good" snack box. With every purchase of an Eat for Good snack box, United will donate $1.00 to Feeding America. The boxes cost $7 each and will be available on over 1,200 United Airlines flights a day. The program will run for 3 months: March through May and supports Feeding America’s Nourish Our Kids program to help ensure every child has food to thrive.

 Gleanings For The Hungry

Gleanings For The Hungry, founded in 1982, is a mercy ministry of Youth With A Mission (YWAM). YWAM is an international movement of Christians from many denominations. Gleanings For The Hungry’s mission is to feed the hungry of the world both physically and spiritually. In the summer they operate a fruit processing plant, sun drying nectarines and peaches. From January to May, with the help of many volunteers, they produce millions of servings of dehydrated soup mix. The food donated and the food produced is always given to other Christian ministries around the world sharing the love of God.

 Limbs for Life Foundation

The Limbs for Life Foundation is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to providing fully functional prosthetic care for individuals who cannot otherwise afford it and raising awareness of the challenges facing amputees. The Foundation was designed to bring restoration to the lives of amputees. By providing financial assistance, these people have the opportunity to return to a productive job and normal lifestyle.

 Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation

Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation’s Reaching for the Cure 10K run, 5K walk and 1K Kids run

The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1982, to improve the care quality of life and survival rate of children with malignant diseases. The founders, comprised of parents, physicians and community leaders, joined forces to begin support of laboratory research that would translate into immediate treatment for children with cancer. Since 1982, the dedicated volunteers of PCRF have raised over $17 million for pediatric cancer research.

In 2005 PCRF funded over $1.5 million for cancer research laboratories locally in southern California as well as nationally. PCRF is privately supported through donations from individuals, charitable foundations, and businesses that recognize the urgent need to improve treatment and cure childhood cancers.

 Special Olympics

Special Olympics is an international organization dedicated to empowering individuals with mental retardation to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with mental retardation year-round training and competition in 26 Olympic-type summer and winter sports.

 Casa Teresa

Casa Teresa is a non-profit organization that opened in 1976 to provide a temporary loving home environment for single, pregnant women 18 years of age and older. These women have nowhere else to go and have chosen to keep their babies after birth or to place them for adoption. Casa Teresa provides a place for these women in transition. They come from all areas and walks of life to an environment of shared housing, responsibility and rehabilitation.

Challenged Athletes Foundation believes that competitive athletics for physically disabled individuals can foster self-esteem and the ability to achieve goals in life. It is our mission to assist and promote these athletes in their competitive pursuits.

 National Multiple Sclerosis Society

Their mission is to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society was founded by Sylvia Lawry in 1946, based upon her desire to find the cause and cure of her brother's diagnosis. There are now over 70 chapters nationwide and the Orange County Chapter was chartered in 1974 through the efforts of 15 dedicated volunteers and a small staff of 7.

 Hurricane Katrina Kids Relief

Woodbridge High School Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort, Irvine, CA: Donations filled 3 sixteen foot trucks worth of supplies, food, and clothing for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Donations we're sent to The PRC. This is a coalition of churches and pastors to address community needs and distribute relief. It is their mission to coordinate national, state, and local faith and community-based organizations to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
